Though there are occasional special events, summer classes, or conferences, for the most part many of the buildings are much quieter than usual. This is certainly true of my building. It is wonderful to see the building being used and enjoyed by students during the peak of the semester, but I must admit that I also enjoy the respite from the constant din of activity that the summer provides.

The Joys of Summer
Summer is an interesting time on a college campus. Clumps of prospective or admitted students can be seen dutifully following their student guides here and there. Programs for younger students (high school and below) are in full swing, and it is not uncommon to see group of summer camp children playing on the mall. For better or worse, construction and maintenance projects tend to ratchet up during the summer as well, taking advantage of the weather and the reduced student population.
